I can’t thank everyone enough for participating in the 1st Annual Alumni 3-mile walk. For those who participated in the scavenger hunt and the dozens more who did their walk it was a thrill to be united again for so many reasons– To raise awareness for wellness and adolescent obesity, to remember the landmarks that marked our mornings for a special time in our lives and most importantly to remember each other. And to remember the amazingly strong relationships that were built doing something only a small handful of people in this world has ever done.
I know I speak for so many of the staff in saying, “Alumni, wherever you are in your lives, you are thought of often and we wish the very best for you. It was a privilege to work alongside of you and we will always be some of your biggest fans”.
Enjoy the pictures taken from around the country of those that participated.
With admiration and gratitude,
Here is Katya Fuch’s contribution from Dalton Mass! As no surprise, Katya was in possession of a piece of swag that I didn’t even know existed. The Wellspring blanket!
Here’s Amber Preheim’s contribution from Reedley CA. Amber had special helpers April & Molly as well as her beautiful baby girl Adeline:)
Juel and Randy Kuckenmeister’s contribution from Reno NV. Love the creative interpretation of “fruit” and the limited edition swag! Big bonus points for hiking in SNOW in July!!
Rhinebeck, New York
Here is Sarah Eckelman’s pics and message from Rhinebeck NY! “…the whole family wanted to join in! I thought about the 3-Mile at Reedley and all it’s different aspects and it was certainly bittersweet. So glad the tradition will be carried on at Gem!!”
Pedo & Swag! (Wellspring hat, AOS “Fighting Emu” sweatpants, Gem polo, circa ’07 AOS carabiner keychain (that might still have a 1205 on it;), Staff vs Student t-shirt tucked in the back side, and YES a token!).
Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
David Melear’s submission (with Murphy’s tribute to Aspen, Eddie and Aspen) and message from Coeur d’Alene ID. “I remain inspired by the amazing work accomplished by the amazing students and staff during the run of AOS/WSCA! I know personally that my three years at WSCA serve as my three favorite in my 26+ years of working in programs/etc. I raise my pedo to Gem Academy as it launches. Thank you all for having passion, dedication and resiliency!
